Addgene distributes certain types of plasmid collections as plasmid kits. Most kits consist of 13 or more plasmids from a single laboratory, which are meant to be used together to perform various types of experiments, such as:
- Cloning
- Genome engineering
- CRISPR
- Synthetic biology
The plasmids are distributed individually as well as together as bacterial glycerol stocks in 96-well plates.
To determine whether a plasmid collection can be distributed as a kit, we typically consider conditions such as:
- How many plasmids must be used together to perform experiments
- Requests from the scientific community
If you would like to have your plasmid deposit distributed as a plate kit, please fill out the kit questionnaire below and email it to deposit@addgene.org. For plasmid collections of 12 or fewer plasmids that you would like to distribute together, please email us at deposit@addgene.org and we would be happy to discuss potential options.
