Since 2016 Addgene has been providing viral vector production services to help facilitate scientific research. We know that viral production ("packaging") is a common step after requesting transfer plasmids from Addgene, and we aim to save you time and help you get results faster.
Our viral service traditionally offered packaging of both lentiviral and AAV vectors — in special cases as inventoried (ready-to-order) particle preps generated from popular plasmids in our collection. Orders of these ready-to-use viral preparations have near zero lead time. In the case of AAVs there is also a separate Packaged on Request service, which expands access to nearly the entire AAV plasmid collection, with a short production lead time. If you would like to suggest a viral vector transfer plasmid that is in our collection for availability under the permanent, in-stock viral vector service please use the suggestion form. Nearly all AAVs requested under the Packaged on Request service can be made to order in a number of different serotypes, as a request is only denied if certain technical challenges are identified with the transfer plasmid.
