How are lentiviral preparations concentrated?

Concentrated lentivirus is generated using the methods described on our viral production page. Upon harvest, lentivirus is concentrated by precipitation in polyethylene glycol (PEG) followed by centrifugation. Precipitated lentivirus is then resuspended in PBS pH 7.4 without calcium or magnesium.

Standard lentiviral preparations are not subjected to a concentration step, and remain suspended in the packaging cell medium (DMEM + 10% FBS + 4 mM L-alanyl-L-glutamine) upon distribution.
