Can for-profit companies request materials from Addgene under an MTA?

As a non-profit organization, Addgene does not own any of the materials in our repository and instead we distribute them on behalf of the institutions who deposit with us.

A limited portion of Addgene’s collection has been approved for distribution to for-profit entities. Addgene uses an Industry Material Transfer Agreement (IMTA), which is a legal agreement between the recipient and the depositing institutions. For additional information about the IMTA, as well as a full list of the items available to for-profits, please visit our page on Plasmid Distribution to Industry.

For those materials not available to your organization, we suggest reaching out to the institution that originally deposited them with us to request to obtain them directly.
